I am dedicated to excellent teaching, mentoring, and scholarship.
In my classroom I am motivated by teaching students how to be critical of social structures, while also impressing agency on them to pursue solutions to the social problems that they care about. I love the process of course design and the practice of creative pedagogy.
In my research I am motivated by understanding the strategies that individuals use to perceive agency over various types of well-being in their lives, as well as understanding how the individual use or internalization of culture enable or thwart social change. I am primarily a qualitative sociologist, who loves listening to and learning about individual experiences and meaning making. I enjoy the process of research design and highly value the practice of careful social science research.
